Becky Jo Rowton, age 65, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Home Sweet Home Plus in Derby Kansas. She was born on May 3, 1960 to Clyde “Bud” and Laura “Jean” Rowton in Scott City, Kansas. She was a graduate of Scott Community High School, Wichita Business School, Garden City Community College and Emporia State University. Over her life she lived in Overland Park, Kansas, Dodge City, Kansas, Emporia, Kansas, Garden City, Kansas, Derby, Kansas and moved back to Scott City in 2009 where she resided until illness recently took her to Derby. Over the years she worked in the insurance and hospital settings, along with working for both Boeing and then Cessna for several years in Wichita.
Becky enjoyed riding her Harley Davidson, which she named “Bud”. Becky took many cross country trips over the years on Bud and enjoyed her motorcycle riding friends. She enjoyed crafting and working in her yard which she took great pride in. Becky had a love for animals, especially her cats and dog Clyde, whom she considered her “kids”.
Becky is survived by her siblings-Betty(Fred) Wilken of Derby, Kansas, Chuck Rowton of Scott City and Susan(Phil) Escareno of Leoti, Kansas. Survivors also include nieces and nephews-Darin(Lanie)Wilken of Springfield, Missouri, Denise Young, Overland Park, Kansas, Ty Rowton, Scott City, Kansas, Brian Rowton, Scott City, Kansas, Jeremy (Karrie) Wray, Lompoc, California, Beau Harkness, Scott City, Kansas, Darci Harkness, Scott City, Kansas, Courtney (Josh)Young, Leoti, Kansas, Ryan Escareno, Garden City, Kansas and Becca(Eric)Clower, Owasso, Oklahoma. 18 great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special friends, Jason “Skippy” Schwarz (who she considered her adopted son) and Regina Riney.
Becky was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and great-nephew, Ben Wilken.
A graveside Celebration of Life will take place at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11:00am, Kansas with Jeri Smith presiding. No visitation will take place as cremation has taken place.
