Daniel G. Weides, age 88, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on September 18, 1937, in Lexington, Nebraska, the son of Lawrence G. and Ruth E. Wickwire Weides. A resident of Scott City, Kansas, since 1971, moving from Great Bend, Kansas, he was the General Manager at Scott City Grain, cattle nutritionist for Scott Pro, and served as Mayor (4yrs) and City Treasurer (9yrs) for Scott City. Prior to Scott City, Dan’s real passion was his horses. Raising, showing, and judging registered Quarter Horses.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, a 3rdand 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus.
Dan’s other accomplishments include:
Church song leader and Eucharistic minister
Barbershop Tumbleweed Chorus member – 18yrs
Hospital Board Member and Chairman
VIP Board and volunteer driver
1998 Volunteer of the year
Kiwanis International – President of the local chapter
Vocalist for hundreds of weddings and funerals
Portrayed the King in the Madrigal Dinner and Christ in the Easter Pageant
Catholic Youth Organization sponsor and teacher
Gave blood on a regular basis and was an NRA Member
On September 9, 1961, he married Linda J. Dunlap in Julesburg, Colorado. She survives.
Survivors include his Wife - Lynn Weides of Scott City, Kansas, One Son - Chris & Lana Weides of Justin, Texas, Three Daughters - Katie & Rene Cordell of Scott City, Kansas, Pati & Chris Pfenninger of Scott City, Kansas, Teresa & Joe Spencer of Wichita, Kansas, Four Brothers - Larry & Cheryl Weides of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Dale & Kathy Weides of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, James Weides of Scottsdale, Arizona, Steve Weides of Lexington, Nebraska, One Sister - Maggie & Chuck Morrison of Scott City, Kansas, Fifteen Grandchildren and Twenty Eight Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, One Brother - Paul Roger Weides, Two Sisters-in-Law - Connie Weides and Kathleen Kaufman, and One Son-In-Law - Brett Eisenhour.
Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas.
Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas, with Fr. Don Bedore presiding. Inurnment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or Park Lane Senior Living in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO Box 553, Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
There will be no calling times.
There will also be a Visitation and Vigil Service held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Reynold Love Funeral Home, 106 West 8th Street, Lexington, Nebraska 68850, with Inurnment following at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Lexington, Nebraska.
