Darrell Piper, Tribune, Kansas, age 78, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune, Kansas. Darrell was born on December 25, 1947, in Wichita, Kansas, to Jack Piper and Billie Crittenden.

He grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and Phoenix, Arizona, and attended Sunny Slope High School. Darrell was drafted into the Army on September 28, 1967, and served until June 5, 1969, in Vietnam.

After returning from the service, he married Vicky Piper and to this union, Sheryl Quint and Darrell Piper Jr were born. He settled in Tribune, Kansas and married his love, Diane Piper on December 24, 1988.

Darrell worked at the Gas Plant as a meter tech for 22 years. In 2010, Darrell and Diane became snowbirds. They spent summers in Kansas with family and then enjoyed winters in Phoenix, Arizona. Darrell's second love was his 1936 Chevy. They traveled to car shows in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, and Arizona.

Darrell never knew a stranger and always had a joke to share! He could also tell you the best places to eat. He was a gentle soul and soft-spoken. Darrell was a lifetime member of the VFW.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Diane Piper - Horace, Kansas, siblings: Rebecca (Dick) McMahon - Phoenix, Arizona, Charles (Ursula) Piper- Sun City, Arizona, Steven Piper- El Mirage, Arizona. Pamela Crittenden- Syracuse, Kansas Randy (Janet) Crittenden- Horace, Kansas Tonya (Butch) Paxman- Tribune, Kansas. His children: Buddy Myers-Paradise, California, Margina Myers-Kansas City, Kansas, Tammy (Todd) Siverson-Imperial, Nebraska, Jim (Julia) Myers-Leoti, Kansas, Bart (Torri) Myers-Newton, Kansas, Kendra (Vanessa) Ramsey-Fulton, Kentucky, Sheryl Quint (Ron) Quint-South Sioux City, Nebraska, Darrell Piper Jr. -Nebraska, beloved brother-in-law Jim (Carol) Mansfield-Bright, Indiana, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by Billie Crittenden, mother, Jack Piper, father and Margaret Piper, adopted Mother, Michael Crittenden, brother, Beth Tenan, daughter.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am (MT) Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Presbyterian Church in Tribune, Kansas, with Wade Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas.

Family will be available 6:00-8:00 pm (MT) Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home at 322 2nd St., Tribune, Kansas.
