Doris Dyer of Garden City, KS, passed away on May 19, 2019, after a long battle with an autoimmune disease at her home. Born in Garden City, KS, May 11, 1939 to William Lee and Lorena May Smith. She was the oldest of 6 children. Doris attend garden city schools and garden city community college.
Doris met and married the love of her life, Avon Don Dyer, at the age of 16 over her parents’ protest on April 8th, 1956. Avon and Doris had 6 wonderful children together.
Doris worked in several different areas including: Safeway, Sheriff’s Office, Counselor for St. Joseph’s and Crossroads
Doris is survived by Children Debra Dianne Dyer Mendoza and Jaime Mendoza, Donna Denise Dyer Andrews and John Andrews, Russell Scott Dyer and Juli Hollis, Steven Don Dyer and Callie Dyer. Siblings: Wanda Lee Smith, Dennis Smith. Aunts: Arlene Smith, Joyce Wolking, Royann Green. Grandchildren: Jennifer Walter, Chris Dyer, Ahna Maksuti, Brittany Dyer, David Mendoza, and Nicole Dyer. Great Grandsons: Kane Dyer, Brayden Walter, Deegan McClure, Evon Maksuti, Gavin Sanchez, Shane Dyer, and Jaxon Maksuti. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Avon Dyer, 1 sister and 3 brothers, infant twin sons, 1 grandson.
Services will be held at Price and Sons Funeral home in Garden City, KS on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10 am.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-8:00 on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Price and Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Doris L. Dyer Scholarship Fund would be appreciated in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St. Garden City, KS 67846.
