Elizabeth “Betty” Jean LaToush, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday October 18, 2025 in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on October 29, 1940, to James Edward “Eddie” and Gladys Nadine Black Rumney in Niobrara County, Wyoming. A resident of Scott City, Kansas, since 1972, she moved from Hays, Kansas. She was the owner of Betty’s Tropical Fish and the K-State Extension agent in Scott County for many years.
Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas. She earned a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska and was actively involved in 4-H and the Celebrate Recovery Ministry.
Survivors include her Son - Kurt and Lindsay LaToush of Dodge City, Kansas, One daughter - Vonnie and Doug Schoonover of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Florida, Three Grandchildren - Reese and Brittanee LaToush of Utica, Kansas, Angee LaToush of Ransom, Kansas, Stephanie May of Garden City, Kansas and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers - Ray Rumney, Jim Rumney, and Dean Rumney.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in Scott City, Kansas, with Pastor Kyle Evans presiding.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Price & Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
Interment will be at the Lusk Cemetery, in Lusk, Wyoming on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 10:30 a.m.
