HEAVEN’S GATES WELCOMED A FAITHFUL SERVANT HOME
James Allen Boyer (Jimbo)
April 10, 1935 – July 29, 2025
James Allen Boyer, lovingly known as Jimbo, passed away peacefully at his home in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 90. Born on April 10, 1935, in Pawnee City, Nebraska, he was the beloved son of John and Juanita Boyer.
Jim graduated from Scott Community High School in 1953 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country for two years before being honorably discharged due to a medical disability, having earned the National Defense Service Medal.
After his military service, Jim worked alongside his father in the family business—the News Chronicle in Scott City—until his retirement. His life’s true calling was ministry! In 1980, he graduated from Melodyland School of Theology, and on June 13, 1982, he was ordained as a minister. He faithfully served as a missionary at large, committed to sharing the Gospel wherever the Lord led—from the streets of Los Angeles to the prisons of Tijuana, Mexico.
Jim’s heart burned for the lost and the hurting. He supported printing ministries that distributed gospel tracts and Bibles. He was actively involved in organizations serving children, widows, and the underserved. His ministry was not just what he did—it was who he was.
In 1955, Jim married Mary Curl in Scott City. Together they had two children: Dee Boyer (Thane) Hedges and John Boyer. He was a proud grandfather to Nicole (Mark) Campos and an adoring great-grandfather to Dash and Krue Campos, all of Wichita, Kansas.
Jim also shared a special bond with his nephew TJ Curl and niece Judy Curl, along with their families, whom he loved deeply and prayed for faithfully. His life was marked by a constant outpouring of love, support, and Godly wisdom.
To know Jimbo was to witness the hands and feet of Jesus in action. His presence lit up every room, and his joy was infectious. Nurses, waitresses, friends, and strangers alike remembered his warm smile, bold faith, and joyful, ornery humor. He lived each day with purpose and poured himself into the lives of others without expectation of return.
Though we grieve his absence, we rejoice in knowing he is now in the presence of the Savior he loved and served so well.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
— Matthew 25:23
Jim is survived by his daughter Dee (Thane) Hedges of Wichita, son John Boyer of Anaheim, California, granddaughter Nicole (Mark) Campos, great-grandsons Dash and Krue Campos, niece Judy Curl and family, and nephew TJ Curl and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Juanita Boyer.
