James Richard "Dick" Smith

James Richard “Dick” Smith, age 81, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on September 28, 1941, in Garden City, Kansas, the Son of William Richard and Edythe Coons Smith. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1973 moving from Garden City, Kansas, he was a cowboy. 

He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Kiwanis Club.

On July 20, 1962, he married Sandra Barker in Garden City, Kansas.  She passed away on March 24, 2022, in Scott City, Kansas. 

Survivors include His Daughter - Tish & Bryan Burnett of Scott City, Kansas, One Son - Tony & Dominique Gray of Orange, Texas, One Sister - Kathy & Duane Koster of Garden City, Kansas, Five Grandchildren - Devyn Jones of Buhler, Kansas, Brynna Burnett of Scott City, Kansas, Isabella Gray of Orange, Texas, Caleb Gray of Orange, Texas, Milena Gray of Orange, Texas, and Seven Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Stepfather - Donald McMillan, and Daughter - Vicky Gray.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.

Inurnment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
