She was born on December 10, 1940, in Marienthal, Kansas, to John Joseph and Barbara Pauline Kessler Chvilicek. Janice spent her early years in Marienthal before her family relocated to Belpre, Kansas, in 1960. In her later years, Janice moved to Larned, Kansas, and just a year and a half ago, she made Scott City her home. She pursued drawing, painting, and creating home movies to share with others. She also collected “Tweety Birds” memorabilia and especially enjoyed polka music. In her youth, her family often attended the Czech Festival in Wilson, KS, where polka was played.
When her nieces and nephews visited, she provided board games to keep them entertained; moreover, she also enjoyed participating in the activities herself.
She also enjoyed cooking and demonstrated considerable skill in the kitchen. She took pleasure in making noodles with a noodle maker she had purchased and shared with family & friends.
