Scott City
Lloyd E. Surprise, age 92, passed away on April 10, 2026 at Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on September 3, 1933 in Greeley County, Kansas, the son of Mark and Effie Surprise.
Lloyd went to grade school in Weskan, Kansas. His family moved to Greeley County, where he attended Greeley County High School and graduated in May 1953.
Lloyd soon enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Germany from 1956 to 1958. He then returned to Greeley County and worked on the family farm with his father. After this, he moved to Scott County, working in various feed yards, later working for Fairleigh Feed Yard for 13 years. He then retired from feedyard work, and established his own lawn care business. He provided service to Scott County and surrounding counties for 15 years.
On May 23, 1979, Lloyd married Margaret Keyse of Scott City, Kansas.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret, and a brother-in-law, Vaughn Young.
Survivors include two daughters, Mabel Kelling and husband Mike, and grandchildren, of Early, Texas, and Brenda Leon and husband Johnny, and grandchildren, of Tribune, Kansas, sister Frances Young of Tribune, Kansas, and other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Park Lane Nursing Home and can be left or mailed to Price and Sons Funeral Home, P. O. Box 553. Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
