Friend

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marsha Elaine Crist McConnell, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, on May 9, 2026. Marsha passed away surrounded by her heartbroken family. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will forever be cherished.

Marsha was born on November 25, 1948, in Scott City, Kansas, to Alfred and Frances Crist (Clinton). Marsha grew up with two sisters on a busy farm. She attended Shallow Water School, where she graduated in 1966. She attended college at Brown Mackie College in Salina and Hays, Kansas. She was a member of Prairie View Church of the Brethren and also a Sunday school teacher who loved doing puppet skits with the kids. No matter the job, she gave her all. Whether she was running a business, working as a secretary, or helping others with their taxes, she was hardworking, dependable, and always willing to lend a helping hand to those around her.

Building a life filled with love and laughter, Marsha was a nurturing mother to Eric McConnell and Kari Hart and valued her role as a grandma to eight grandkids, ten great-grandkids, and one great-great-grandkid. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and provided an environment with emotional support, a foundation of lifelong lessons and values, with lots of love and joy mixed in. She embodied the meaning of family. Marsha was honest, proud, and strong until the very end. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age, and her faith remained the foundation of her life. Her relationship with God was reflected in the deep love, compassion, and devotion she showed to her family daily. Through her faith, she taught those around her the importance of kindness, strength, and unconditional love.

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Frances Crist, grandparents, and brother-in-law Warren Taylor.

Marsha is survived by her sisters Sharolyn Crist Leis of Sand Springs, OK, Cynthia Crist Taylor of Glendale, AZ, her kids Eric McConnell and wife Lisa of Kingfisher, OK, Kari Hart of Canyon, TX, grandchildren Kristi McAlister and husband Hunter of Woodward, OK, Miranda Hayes and husband Grant of Guthrie, OK, Robert Cheney of Watonga, OK, Trenton McConnell and fiancé Carla Britz of Longmont, CO, Colby Cheney of Canyon, TX, Staci Hart of Amarillo, TX, Katrina Barnes and husband Cody of Kingfisher, OK and Breona McConnell of Norman, OK, as well as great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
