Melvin Mott, age 97, died on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on January 6, 1924, in Pierceville, Kansas, the son of Charles and Pearl Railsback Mott. He attended one room schools and graduated from Pierceville High School.
After service in the U.S. Navy he married Myrna N. Mott on August 22, 1948. A marriage of seventy-two years.
Melvin was a lifelong former/stockman in Pierceville area. He enjoyed raising cattle, going to auctions, reading, fishing and talking with friends and neighbors.
His faith in and love of Jesus Christ as his savior was the compass for his life.
He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors include:
Three Sons Larry (Ramona) Mott of Marlow, Oklahoma
Mark Mott of Garden City, Kansas
Clinton (Casey) Mott of Garden City, Kansas
two grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife, and one brother, Ronald Mott.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 10-8 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Phillips officiating. Funeral services will be streamed live on the funeral homes Facebook page beginning at 1:55.
Interment will be at the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
