June 25, 1965 – April 07, 2025

Michael Dale Redburn, the ultimate fishermen, jokester and chicken connoisseur, passed away suddenly at his home in Haviland, Kansas on April 7, 2025. Born in Garden City, Kansas to Dale and Marilyn Redburn on June 25, 1965, Mike was a lifetime Kansas resident.

Mike’s priority was always family first. However, when he wasn’t working, he could be found at the lake, where fishing was his second passion. His patience and determination would oftentimes lead to a great catch. If it didn’t, he would return the following day to make up for it. Mike also enjoyed family gatherings. You could always count on him to be at the helm of a grill or stove, cooking up the best barbeque, fried or baked chicken. His endless love for chicken, knew no bounds. When he wasn’t working, fishing, or cooking, he was racking up minutes on his phone, keeping up with family and friends. Everyone knew what everyone else was doing, simply with a phone call from Mike. Those phone calls will be missed.

In 1993, Mike became a proud father when he and Loreena welcomed their first daughter, Brittany, into the world. They would go on to have another daughter, Jennifer; followed by sons Sheldon and Isaac. On Isaac’s first birthday, Loreena, Brittany, Jennifer and Sheldon were killed in an auto accident while on a shopping trip for birthday supplies. With his remaining son, Isaac by his side, Mike was left to pick up the pieces and rebuild. When life seemed hopeless, Lynette came into the picture and the light in his eyes once again returned. He was ecstatic when they learned that they were expecting. Payton was born in 2006, and Shawn completed the family in 2007. While their union was short lived, Mike thrived on being a dad. It was a title that he was most proud of. However, in 2023, his world was shattered yet again when his son, Isaac, also passed in a car accident. Throughout the worst of tragedies, Mike’s faith remained strong, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is in peace with our Savior.

Mike is survived by his two sons, who were his pride and joys, Payton and Shawn Redburn, both of Dighton, KS. His seven beloved dogs, who were like children to him. Sisters, Carol (Lance) Ellis, of Scott City, KS, Wendy (Ralph) Derstine, of Scott City, KS and Katrina (John) Stewart, of Mobile, AL. Brother, Alan Redburn, of St. Joseph, MO. Stepsisters, April Williams, of Springfield, MO and Amy (Leslie) Derstine, of Watonga, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is proceeded in death by his daughters, Brittany and Jennifer Redburn. Sons, Sheldon and Isaac Redburn. Father and Stepmother, Dale and Judy Redburn. Mother and Stepfather, Marilyn and Kenneth Harris. Sisters, Rhonda and Tina Redburn. Brothers, Dexter and David Redburn. Nephew, Santiago Serna.
