Mike W. Smith, age 60, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at his home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on February 26, 1966, in Scott City, Kansas, the son of Charles Edward and Betty Morris Smith. He worked at a feedyard for most of his life.
Mike worked for the Duff family through his High School years, and after graduating from Scott Community High School in 1984, he took a job with Beef Belt Feeders for 25 years and then took a job with Concrete Industries until 2022.
Later on in life, Mike suffered many health issues, but in his younger years he loved to take his kids hunting and loved playing golf with friends. Mike had a caring heart and was kind and playful to anyone he met and always lent a listening ear to those who needed it. His favorite thing was big family gatherings at his parents’ home with his family and custom harvesting with his Dad and brother Craig.
He was a member of Pheasants Forever.
On May 4, 1985, Mike married Darci Wren, and they had three children. They later divorced in 2010.
Survivors include his Two Sons - Brent Smith of Scott City, Kansas, Rylan Smith of Scott City, Kansas, One Daughter - Megan Smith of Amarillo, Texas, Two Brothers - Mark Smith and David Petty of Wichita, Kansas, Clifton and Garee Smith of Scott City, Kansas, Three Sisters - Marla and Randy Malin of Liberal, Kansas, Rhonda & Chuck Bauer of Pleasanton, Kansas, JoAnn Smith of Egnar, Colorado, Three Grandchildren - Kadence Smith of Grand Island, Nebraska, Clayton Smith of Scott City, Kansas, Taylor Crow of Amarillo, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, One Brother - Craig Smith, One Sister - Delinna Smith, One Daughter-In-Law - Branda Smith, and Two Grandaughters - Terra Murphy and Cassie Murphy.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the First Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas, with Don Williams presiding.
Memorials in Lieu of Flowers may be made to the Mike Smith Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO Box 553, Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
There will be no calling times.
