Norma June Shafer, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at her home in Coats, Kansas. She was born on October 21, 1933, in Baca County, Colorado, the daughter of Peter T. and Lydia Jantz Voth. She was a homemaker most of her life.
She served as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, enjoyed cooking, and appreciated outdoor camping. Norma was famously known for her exceptional cinnamon rolls.
On January 22, 1956, Norma married Marvin Carl Shafer in Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on May 7, 2007, in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors include Three Sons - Kenneth and Mary Ellen Shafer of Granada, Colorado, Jeffrey Shafer of Coats, Stanley and Lavonna Shafer of Marquette, Kansas, Four Daughters - Nancy and Norm Mick of Marquette, Kansas, Jeanette and Rod Haney of Winfield, Kansas, Christine Byrd of Winfield, Kansas, Wendy Palmer of Coats, Kansas, Twenty-seven Grandchildren, Fifty-one Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great-Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Susan Shafer and Cynthia Shafer; two grandsons, Greg Larson and Ryan Haney; one granddaughter, Anna Larson Funk; and one great-granddaughter, Kamilah Denmond.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Norma Shafer Memorial Fund in care of Price and Sons, P.O. Box 552, Scott City, KS 67871.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City, Kansas.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
