Shawn Harney, age 61, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his friends and family.
Born on January 14, 1965, in Norfolk, Shawn grew up with a strong work ethic, a love for family, and a passion for the simple things in life. He graduated from Clarkson High School in 1983 and went on to spend much of his life working as a truck driver, a career that reflected his dedication, reliability, and grit.
Shawn was a proud and loyal Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan through and through. Saturdays during football season were sacred, and anyone who knew him knew exactly where his loyalty stood. Beyond football, Shawn was happiest with grease on his hands and the outdoors around him. A true shade tree mechanic, he could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a hand to family, friends, or neighbors. He also found peace and joy in gardening and fishing, appreciating the quiet moments life had to offer.
Above all else, Shawn treasured his family. He was an incredibly proud papa to his three grandchildren - Lila, Oliver, and Easton - who brought endless joy and pride into his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Patrick "Pat" Harney.
Shawn is survived by his loving wife, Monica Harney of Tribune, Kansas; his sons, Craig & Carlie Harney of Solomon, Kansas, Jordan & Courtney Harney of Tribune, Kansas, and Cody & Landee Harney of Scott City, Kansas; his siblings, Mike & Monica, David & Sharon, Cindy & Todd, Sheri, Lisa, Jay & Teri, his in-laws - Gerald & Flora, Kyle & Mona, Brian & Melody, Roy & Julie, numerous nieces and nephews; along with many extended family members, friends, and all those fortunate enough to know him.
Shawn will be remembered for his sense of humor, his hardworking spirit, his willingness to help others, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy will live on in the stories shared around garage projects, fishing trips, family gatherings, and every Nebraska football game watched in his honor.
Memorials may be given to the "Shawn Harney Memorial" in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO Box 161, Leoti, KS 67861.
There will be no calling times.
