Stephen Harold Pollman

Stephen Harold Pollman, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, surrounded by family at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, CO. He was born on June 10, 1950, in Scott City, Kansas, to Harold and Mary Ellen (Worsham) Pollman.

Steve graduated from Scott City High School in 1968. He then moved to Garden City, Kansas, where he married and they raised their family, and he eventually settled in Ulysses, Kansas, in 2005.

Steve’s younger years were filled with fond memories of growing up in the Boy Scout community with his parents and four brothers. After high school, Steve opened Steve's Sewing Center in Garden City, KS, in the 1970s, then the family moved to Liberal, KS, where he worked for Liberal Mobile Homes. They returned to Garden City in 1983, where he sold cars for Burtis Motors, then worked for IBT, and finally Broce Manufacturing until he retired in 2009. He loved being a salesman and connecting with his customers.

Steve was a jokester and loved making people laugh. He collected clocks and proudly displayed numerous family photos around his home. He also loved listening to his police scanner and XM radio.

Steve was a member of the First Christian Church in Garden City, Kansas.

After a brief marriage to Marlyn Dean, he married Judy Zimbelman on January 15, 1971, in Garden City, Kansas. They were married for 34 years. She survives.

Survivors include a son, Stephen (Yolanda) Ohnick of Rocky Ford, Colorado; two daughters - Stephanie (Wesley) Strode of Parker, Colorado, and Summer (Curtis) Claar of Manhattan, KS; and six grandchildren – Westyn Claar, Taryn Claar, Clayn Claar, and Castyn Claar all of Manhattan, Kansas, Hudson Strode and Sydney Strode of Parker, Colorado; two brothers - Richard Pollman of Sterling, Colorado and Terry Pollman of Scottsdale, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Randy.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas with the Rev. Rodney Hopper presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be written to the First Christian Church in Scott City or Lee Richardson Zoo, both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO Box 553, Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
