Susan E. Richards, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on January 1, 1965, in Tribune, Kansas, and was the daughter of Dan E. Wright and Evalyn Hoffman Wright.
Susan spent half of her life in Scott City, Kansas. She attended Shallow Water School through eighth grade and later graduated from Scott Community High School. After high school, she attended Garden City Community College for one year.
Throughout her career, Susan held various positions, including roles at Colonial Savings, ProHealth Chiropractic, the Women’s Clinic, and Richards Financial Services, where she worked as an office manager.
Susan was a member of New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene in Scott City, Kansas. She enjoyed shopping—especially on QVC and Amazon—along with cooking, reading, gardening, and home improvement projects.
Susan was previously married to William “Bobby” Lilley. She later married Craig Richards on October 20, 2013, in Kansas City, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband, Craig Richards of Scott City, Kansas; one stepdaughter, Summer Young and her husband, Samuel Young, of Belton, Missouri; her mother, Evalyn Wright of Scott City, Kansas; two brothers, Brian Wright and his wife Carolyn of Reeds Spring, Missouri, and Greg Wright and his wife Portia of Wichita, Kansas; her parents-in-law, G. Edward and Patricia Richards of Marshall, Missouri; her brother-in-law, Kent Richards and his wife Shannon of Lenexa, Kansas; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her beloved dog, Cazzie.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dan E. Wright; her brother, Larry Wright; and one nephew, Brett Wright.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas, with Pastor Nathan Haeck presiding.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Scott Community Foundation in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO Box 553, Scott City, Kansas 67871.
Interment will be held at Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Price & Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City, Kansas 67871.
