Garden City, Kansas Theresa Belle Craig, age 87, died on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on September 10, 1933 in Herrington, Kansas, the daughter of Thelma Bernice Ortega Phillips Shroyer and later adopted by Carl Shroyer when she was 11. She attended school in 12 states. She has been a resident of Garden City since 1977 having moved from Lakin, Kansas. She worked many jobs including waitressing at age 15, play ground monitor in Lakin, Kansas, postal worker, drove taxi, hotel clerk, and over Garden City Public Schools as a cafeteria satellite manager until her retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Garden City, Kansas. In September of 1941 she married Ernest Craig, Jr. He preceded her in death in 1983. She also had a long time companion, Denis Crecellus who also preceded her in death in 2004. Survivors include: Five Children Ernest (Ike) Carlylle Craig South Daytona Beach, Florida Candace (Candie) Gamino of Garden City, Kansas Johnny Craig and wife Julie of Garden City, Kansas James (Jim) Craig and wife Tammy of Pueblo West, Colorado Lauri Allen and husband Garry of Garden City, Kansas Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her long time companion. Visitation will be on Monday, November 2, 2020 from 2-8 with the family present from 6:30-7:30. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
