Yvonne Luene Anderson

Yvonne Luene Anderson, 81, of York, Nebraska, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026. Yvonne was born February 28, 1945, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Wilford and Jennie Billings. She graduated high school from Dodge City. After high school, she married Roger Sunley and welcomed 3 lovely children, LaFonda, Rhonda, and Byler. She later married Jack Anderson on December 18, 1971, and together they were blessed with a beautifully blended family, adding sons Harold and Greg.

Throughout Yvonne’s life, she found joy in both work and serving others. She worked at the Healy Coop Elevator before dedicating many years to providing daycare to the Healy community, where she lovingly cared for countless children who held a special place in her heart. Later, she worked at Hometown Pride Grocery, a position she truly enjoyed because it allowed her to visit with and stay connected to so many members of the community she loved. She never lost her playful spirit and could often be found enjoying a game of cards, dominoes, board games, or puzzles with family and friends, a pastime she continued to cherish well into her later years. When Yvonne and Jack could no longer remain in her home, they moved together to an assisted living community in Nebraska, where they continued to enjoy each other’s companionship and the friendships they made there.

Yvonne was a woman of many talents and faith. She loved playing the violin and found joy in sharing music with others. She was also certified in shorthand, a skill that she enjoyed using. Her faith was important in her life. In her early years, she was known for her remarkable perfect attendance at Sunday worship, a streak that only came to an end when her oldest daughter made her arrival on a Sunday morning. She was a member of the Healy Methodist Church.

Yvonne gave her children many gifts throughout her life, but perhaps the greatest gift she ever gave them was each other. She taught them to love, forgive, laugh, and to stand together. Her grandchildren will forever remember Grandma with every card shuffled, every game played, and every moment shared as her love for games continue on in her grandchildren. We can celebrate the family Yvonne built and the bond she leaves behind.

Yvonne is survived by daughter LaFonda Sharp and husband Dan of Healy, Kansas; grandson Tyler Sharp and wife Hanna and great-grandson Kane of Scott City, Kansas; granddaughter Kyla Hunter and husband Mitch and great-granddaughter Kendall and great-grandson Lincoln of Garden City, Kansas; granddaughter Kiara Dandurand and husband Tyler and great-grandson Declan of Healy, Kansas; daughter Rhonda Koehn and husband Jeff and grandson Eli of York, Nebraska; grandson Matthew Koehn and wife Elva and great-grandson Caden and great-granddaughter Chloe of Cypress, Texas; granddaughter Chelsey Klein and husband Brian and great-grandson Milo and expected great-granddaughter of Benedict, Nebraska; grandson Tavis Koehn and wife Hailey and great-granddaughter Brittney of Geneva, Nebraska; son Byler Sunley and wife Stephanie of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandson Keaton Sunley and wife Julia and great-granddaughters Isabelle, Emmalyn, and Aubrey of Colorado Springs, Colorado; granddaughter Taysia Sunley and son Jackson of Great Bend, Kansas; son Harold and wife Eileen of Hays, Kansas; granddaughter Kari Kramer and husband Jason and great-grandson Anders of Olathe, Kansas; daughter-in-law Chelle Anderson of Dighton, Kansas; brothers Larry Billings of Salina, Kansas, Carl Billings and wife Janet of Liberal, Kansas, Bobby Billings and wife June of Republic, Missouri, and Paul Billings and wife Mary of Olathe, Kansas; sister-in-law Kay Stauth of Cimmaron, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Anderson, her parents, Wilford and Jennie Billings, brothers Lyle Billings and Roy Don Billings, sister Jo Benear, and son Greg Anderson.

Funeral Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Healy Methodist Church in Healy, Kansas with Pastor Jee Sook Gil presiding.

Memorials in Lieu of Flowers may be made to the Healy Methodist Church or Hearthstone Nursing Home in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO Box 553, Scott City, Kansas, 67871.

Interment will be held in the Healy Cemetery in Healy, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2026, and the family will be receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Price & Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
